Explanation:
"Song for Christmas" was written on Christmas Day 2021, when I was lying around at home weakened by Corona. With a feverish body and a severe headache I wrote the lyrics. Maybe it's because at
first glance the chorus and the verses don't seem to fit together. It's about the tension between the helpless newborn and the all-powerful Jesus. Born as a baby in need of protection and as the
powerful Son of God who healed incurable diseases, he is the same. He summarized the ten commandments in two and that's all it takes. Nevertheless, even the two are impossible to keep and only by
the gift of God, by His grace we are saved.
The rocking blues funk then came to the fore.

Jesus wird uns als Kind geboren, so klein und schwach
Er muss beschützt werden und nach Ägypten fliehen.
Die Hand des Bösen griff nach ihm, um ihn bald zu töten.
Jesus ist so mächtig, dass er sogar Kranke und Böse heilte
Er war der bescheidenste Mensch, der auf Erden wandelte
auch wenn er der Sohn Gottes ist.
Jesus lehrte uns in den Geschichten, wie wir uns zu verhalten haben.
Er hat uns befohlen, unseren Nächsten zu lieben wie uns selbst
aber noch grösser ist das Gebot, dass wir unseren Gott lieben sollen
mehr als alles andere. Das war's!
Erklärung:
"Song for Christmas" entstand am Weihnachtstag 2021, als ich von Corona geschwächt zu Hause herumlag. Mit fiebrigem Körper und starken Kopfschmerzen schrieb ich den Text. Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass im ersten Blick der Refrain und die Strophen nicht zusammen zu passen scheinen. Es geht um die Spannung zwischen dem hilflosen Neugeborenen und dem allmächtigen Jesus. Als schützenswertes Baby geboren und als machtvoller Sohn Gottes, der unheilbare Krankheiten heilte ist er derselbe. Er fasste die zehn Gebote in zweien zusammen und mehr braucht es nicht. Trotzdem sind auch die zwei unmöglich einzuhalten und nur durch das Geschenk Gottes, durch seine Gnade werden wir errettet.
Der rockige Blues Funk hat sich dann ergeben.
